Who should be named

2012 WOMAN OF THE YEAR?

Your mother, sister, boss, neighbor, doctor, lawyer,

secretary, pharmacist, teacher, friend?

She can be rich or poor, employed or not, a high profile woman or one who is not well known. In her own way, she serves as an excellent role model for other women. She has made a difference and a lasting impression on those around her. She goes beyond the call of duty. Her actions have made a positive impact on her community – within northwest Pennsylvania. Her sense of duty is strong. She is a role model. She has done something to help other women. And that something goes beyond her job description. You can recognize her and express your admiration for her by nominating her for the 2012 WOMAN OF THE YEAR!

The Women’s Roundtable Woman of the Year finalists and their nominators will be introduced at a Community Reception on April 12, 2012, at the Ambassador Conference Center in Erie.

The finalists will then be honored at the Awards Banquet on May 17, 2012, at the Ambassador Conference Center. All finalists will receive Certificates of Honor and The Woman of the Year will receive the coveted Lucy Award, a 5-1/2" Lucite Diamond perched upon a custom-made oak base.

Here are some tips for filling out a winning nomination form:

1. The information on the form is the only information the judges can consider. You may submit one additional page of material. This rule was devised to simplify the judging process and to make their decision process as fair as possible for all nominees.

2. Do not assume that the judges know your nominee. Fully explain why you think she should win. Avoid phrases such as "contributions too numerous to mention" or "her many attributes." Instead, tell exactly what those contributions or attributes are.

3. Provide correct address and phone information so that the judges can reach both you and the woman you nominate. If she has an unlisted number, include a way to reach her. Finalists and the persons who submitted their names will be called.

4. Have your nomination in on time. Nominations must be postmarked or submitted online no later than February 29, 2012.
